Welcome to "Our Athenian Walking Tour: Stop 5"
~ Memor Spiritus ~
If you have a few hours to spare in Athens, a walk through
Monastiraki is a very nice experience. Especially if you visit
on a Sunday morning, when the flea market is open.
The Tzistarakis Mosque is an Ottoman mosque, built in 1759,
in Monastiraki Square, central Athens, Greece. It is now
functioning as an annex of the Museum of Greek Folk Art.

From there you can take one of several streets
full of shops selling souvenirs and clothes.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Annunciation is the
cathedral church of the Archbishopric of Athens and
all Greece. Construction of the Cathedral began on
Christmas Day, 1842 with the laying of the cornerstone
by King Otto and Queen Amalia.
The cathedral remains a major landmark in Athens
and the site of important ceremonies with national
political figures present, as well as weddings
and funerals of notable personalities.
